Envelope Printing FAQs

Modified on Fri, 9 Feb, 2024 at 9:44 AM

What envelope sizes are available?

We offer a wide variety of common envelope sizes, including #10 (9.5” x 4.125”), A6 (6.5” x 4.75”), catalog (9” x 12”), and more. We offer sizes that will fit most standard greeting cards and flat cards. Please check our envelope product page for the most up to date size list.

What paper stocks are available?

We can only print envelopes with our 70# uncoated paper at this time. This paper is sturdy enough to hold up to the mailing process.

What type of seal do the envelopes have?

Our envelopes are made with wet and stick seals. These seals require less material and produce less waste than peel and stick seals.

What is the minimum order quantity?

We do not have a set maximum or minimum quantity for envelopes. Let us know what you need and we’ll find a way to make it work!

Can I print on the front and back of my envelope?

Of course! You can choose to print one or both sides in full color or just black and white.

What mailing and addressing options are there?

We can do all of your addressing and mailing in our facilities. We can also only do specific parts, if there are parts you would like to do yourself. Ask us about our mailing list services and kitting!

Are there guidelines I should follow for mailing?

Yes! We recommend checking with your local mail carrier for specific envelope requirements. In general here are some key guidelines to consider:

  • The area for a return address should be 1/4” away from the top and left edge.
  • A 1” square should be left blank in the upper right corner to add postage or mailing indicia.
  • The top of the mailing address must be less than 2 3/4” from the bottom of the envelope.
  • The bottom edge and address areas should have a white background so post office machines and workers can easily read these areas.

Will the color of my envelopes match my cards, letterheads or other printed pieces?

We will do our best to match any cards, letterheads, and other printed pieces you have produced with us, but the colors may differ depending on the press used. They will be similar if they are not the same. Please let us know if color consistency is a concern and we can discuss using PMS colors and any other options. Ordering a hard copy can also be helpful for checking color.

Do you fill envelopes for mailing?

Yes! We can do kitting and envelope stuffing for you!

What size envelope should I order for my flyer/invitation/card?

The size of the envelope you need depends on the size of the piece you are mailing. In general, envelopes should be 0.25” taller and wider than the piece you want to put inside. This extra space makes it easy for recipients to remove the envelope and reduces the chance that your piece will get damaged when the envelope is opened. Thicker pieces may need bigger envelopes.
