Bookmark Printing FAQs

What’s the standard bookmark size?

The standard size for bookmarks is 2” x 6”. Other common sizes include 2” x 7” and 2” x 8”.

What paper stocks are available?

We offer a variety of materials for bookmarks. Our most popular are:

• 100% PCW Uncoated Paper
  • Smooth, dull, and white surface
• 10% PCW Recycled Coated Paper
  • Smooth, sleek, and white surface
• 50% PCW Recycled Kraft Board
  • Textured, dull, and brown surface

How do I choose a paper weight?

Paper weight refers to how thick and heavy a paper stock is. Paper weight is often labeled as points or pounds. The higher the number, the heavier and thicker the paper is. Text weight is thinner and typically used for pages in booklets. Cover weight is much thicker and typically used for sturdier products like packaging, hang tags, and greeting cards. We recommend picking a cover stock with a higher lb or pt number for sturdy bookmarks.

Can bookmarks be printed on both sides?

Of course! You can choose to print on one or both sides with either full color or black ink only.

Do I need to include bleed on my bookmark?

Yes! A 0.125” bleed should be included on all edges of your bookmark, including custom shapes, holes, and cut outs.

Will I receive a proof of my bookmarks before printing begins?

Yes! We will send you up to two free digital (soft) proofs before production begins. Extra soft proofs and physical hard proofs can be ordered for an extra cost. For more information about proofs, please review our Proofing Options page.

Can I add a coating or laminate to my bookmarks?

If you choose a coated paper (like silk or gloss), we can add a soft touch coating. Soft touch coating creates a velvety texture and matte appearance. On any paper, we can add a gloss laminate. We use the most eco-friendly gloss laminate available. It uses heat to seal itself to your paper product. Because of this, a small edge of laminate will be left around the outside of your product to ensure proper sealing.

Do you print bookmarks with tassels or strings?

Absolutely! We offer a wide variety of optional additions for bookmarks, including strings and tassels. Just like our hang tags with tassels, we offer multiple tassel styles and materials for bookmarks. We can also drill holes for you if you’d prefer to add your own strings and tassels. Can I add rounded corners to my bookmarks?

Of course! You can choose from one of our rounded corner diameters: 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2”. We also offer die-cut custom shapes via custom quotes.
