High-resolution images are extremely on all printed products, especially on packaging, booklets, and marketing materials like sell sheets, brochures, and menus. All images should have a resolution of at least 300 ppi. This value can be used to calculate the dimensions of your image in pixels or inches.
What should the dimensions of my image be in pixels?
To find out what the pixel dimensions of your image should be, you need to know what size your image will be in inches. You can then multiply these measures by our recommended 300 pixels per inch (ppi) to get the necessary size in pixels. To be high enough quality for printing, images must meet or exceed these suggested pixel counts.
For example: If you want your image to be sized to 2” x 3.5”, your image should be at least 600 x 1050 pixels. This number is achieved by doing the following calculations: Length: 2” x 300 = 600 pixels. Height: 3.5” x 300 = 1050 pixels.
What is the maximum size in inches that my image can be?
To find out what the maximum dimensions of your image should be in inches while still maintaining good quality, you need to know the current size of your image in pixels. You can then divide these measures by our recommended 300 pixels per inch (ppi) to get the maximum size in inches. To be high enough quality for printing, images must be at or below the calculated dimension in inches.
For example: If your image is sized to 1200 x 1800 pixels, your image should be at most 4” x 6” in your design. This number is achieved by doing the following calculations: Length: 1200 ÷ 300 = 4 inches. Height: 1800 ÷ 300 = 6 inches.
