Can you print my barcodes and QR codes?

Modified on Wed, 14 Feb, 2024 at 1:10 PM

Absolutely! We can print barcodes and QR codes on any product, including retail boxes, packaging sleeves, hang tags, and booklets.

All you need to do is place your barcode or QR code into your design and export it as a PDF. You are responsible for ensuring that your codes are set up correctly and link to your designated product or website. We recommend you print your code out or order a hard proof to double-check that it is usable.

We can also use variable data for your codes. If you are interested in this, please contact our customer service team for more information.

What are your design suggestions for barcodes?

We recommend following GS1 guidelines when creating your barcodes. Here are some reminders:

  • Use colors with enough contrast so that a scanner can read the code. Most scanners use a laser that “sees” red as white, so take extra caution when using red in your design.
  • Barcodes must be within the acceptable UPC size range. Standard UPC barcodes are 1.46” x 1.02”. Acceptable barcodes can be anywhere from 80% to 200% of this size.
  • Barcodes need a margin of space around them with no designs. This is called quiet space. Quiet space must be at least 10 times the size of the narrowest bar in your barcode design.

What are your design suggestions for QR codes?

There are no standards for QR codes, but here are our suggestions:

  • Use colors with enough contrast. The higher the contrast between your nodes and the background, the better. A contrast ratio of at least 4:1 is required by most QR scanners.
  • Barcodes should be at least 0.75” x 0.75”. More complicated barcodes should be larger.
  • Like barcodes, QR codes also need a quiet space around them. We recommend at least 0.25” on all sides.
